Club 1541 and King's Boys Battle it out for the Freeman Cup

Congratulations to the Club 1541 Boys' Hockey team who won the Freeman Cup on Wednesday night with a 4-1 victory over the King's 1st XI in front of a large crowd.

The scoreline flatters the former students, who were at times outplayed by a young King's side in the first half, who took the lead in the first minutes of the game.

Both teams missed great chances before the Club 1541 side equalised around half time. The action continued to be end-to-end before the 'visitors' wrapped up the match with three late goals.

It was great to see so many familiar faces back at Archdeacon and some of them particularly enjoyed playing on our beautiful All Weather Pitch for the first time! Thank you for coming back and keeping this fantastic tradition going.

Captained by Jamie Baker and Josh Mill, Club 1541 received the Freeman Cup from Headmaster David Morton after the game.

The Freeman Cups were kindly donated to the school by Claire Freeman and the Freeman family last year and are awarded after Club 1541 matches in Rugby, Netball, Cricket and Hockey.
