Thank you to all of the players and spectators who came along on Sunday as the Club 1541 Hockey and Rugby matches returned with a bang!
After the frost cancelled last year's event, it was geat to see such fantastic numbers in attendance.
First up, in the pouring rain, the girls' Hockey team, lead by Missy Duberley, played fantastically to score several eye-catching goals and win the Freeman Cup.
The cups for all Club 1541 sports have kindly been donated by Claire Freeman and the Freeman family.
After warming and drying up following the trophy presentation, the girls stayed on to cheer on the boys as the Club 1541 side took on the Headmaster's team. Thankfully the rain had stopped the skies were blue, but the ground was extremely muddy. Well done to both sides who still managed to play some very exciting Rugby to watch and to the Club 1541 side for snatching a late 27-25 victory and lifting the Freeman Cup.
Many people stayed on after the game for a drink and to catch up on what was a lovely day. Several of the players also headed to the Pelican afterwards for a well earned pint (or two).
It was also great to see Club 1541 members of all ages taking part. The battle for Freeman Cups returns next term on Wednesday 20th March as the boys' Hockey team take on King's. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
