It was fantastic to welcome back a large number of Club 1541 members to King's on Sunday. With many dusting off the cobwebs of not playing sport in several years, the standard of Hockey and Rugby on display was excellent.

First up was the Hockey. A team made up of players from the 1st XI and 2nd XI took on the returning former students with guest appearances from Mrs Pearce and Mr James. It was great to see past and present pupils competing in such great spirit with great skills on show from both sides. There were many great individual and team goals scored, with the Club 1541 XI taking the victory 4-2. Well done to all who played!

That was followed by the Club 1541 XV, coached by Mr Phillips, taking on an Headmaster's XV managed by Mr Barr and also made up primarily of former students. Club 1541 took an early two try lead and were certainly the dominant side in the early exchanges. However, the Headmaster’s XV fought their way back into the game, with the size and strength of their forward dominated side starting to tell. The game went down to the wire with the Headmaster’s XV having a late try disallowed that would have seen them victorious. Mr Phillips' side were awarded a penalty in the dying seconds of the game which saw them score a break away try to clinch victory. Thank you to all of the Club 1541 members who came back to play and helping to make it such a great occasion.

We look forward to more sporting action in the New Year when it is the boys turn to play Hockey and the girls will battle it out on the Netball court!

Here are some of the best pictures from a great day:
