The Club 1541 Golf Day returned with a bang as a larger field assembled to battle for the John Brain Memorial Trophy at Naunton Downs Golf Club.

After a long hot and dry June, the rain decided to arrive just as the groups teed off. Despite some short light showers, the standard of golf was exceptionally high and very competitive with the team stableford competition decided by one point and the individual prize won by two points.

The team winners and new holders of the John Brain Memorial Trophy were former student Raj Naik and his wife Kay who both played brilliantly to score 40 points each, congratulations!

The individual winner was guest Kevin Dunn who hit four birdies on the way to 42 points, a fantastic score and well-deserved victory. There were also prizes for former students Fraser Loveday and James Field who won the longest drive and nearest the pin competitions respectively.

After the players had returned to the bar for a well-earned drink, they tucked in to a delicious BBQ and celebrated the winners. Thank you to all who attended, news of the 2024 edition will be announced over the summer holidays so keep your eyes peeled!
