The details of former Second Master Clifford Ashby's memorial have now been confirmed. The Evensong service containing a celebration of the life of one of KIng's most beloved members of staff will take place on Thursday 18th November in the Cathedral from 5.30pm to 6.15pm.

The service is open for anyone to attend to pay their respects, although we do ask that you let us know if you plan to attend by emailing g.smith@thekingsschool.co.uk as soon as possible. Parking will be available at the main school with refreshments after the service in the Main School Hall.

Clifford, who spent 30 years at King's, sadly passed away last November and in my short stint working here at the school, I have heard many great things about him and his imapct on pupils, both during their school days and after they had left.

Having served in World War II in the Royal Signals, he joined King's in 1960 from Lord Wandsworth College as Head of Science before becoming Second Master. During a difficult time for the school, Mr Ashby helped to turn the tide for it to become the buoyant and thriving school it is today.

As well as acting as Second Master, he also held the roles of Housemaster of Wardle, Chairman of the School Council and Secretary of the Old Boys' Society. Our community is poorer for his passing but extremely greatful for everything he did for the King's School, Gloucester.

Clifford's family hope to see as many of you there as possible to celebrate his life.
