King's Boarders Reunite for a Special Celebration of School History

It was a pleasure to welcome former boarders spanning five decades back to King's on Saturday 20th June for our very first King's Boarders' Reunion.

Although boarding officially came to an end at King's in 2001, many of those who attended had not returned to the school since their days living in Dulverton, Wardle, or Paddock House. The reunion provided a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, revisit familiar places, and share memories from a unique chapter in the school's history.

Guests enjoyed tours of all three former boarding houses, recalling the friendships, adventures, and memorable moments that made boarding life so special. The visit also included a walk around the wider school, where attendees were able to see both how much has changed and how much has remained reassuringly familiar over the years.

One of the highlights of the day was a visit to the school's museum, where former boarders delighted in discovering photographs, artefacts, and reminders of their time at King's, prompting many fond recollections and conversations.

Following a delicious barbecue in the Dulverton Garden, the group gathered in the Cathedral for the beautiful service of Evensong in the Quire. The occasion proved particularly meaningful, with the setting and music evoking many cherished memories from their school days.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the reunion such a memorable occasion. Boarding has always been an important part of King's heritage, and it was wonderful to celebrate that legacy with so many members of our boarding community.
