Foundation Day - Thursday 10th July 2025
I am very much looking forward to welcoming you to Foundation Day on Thursday 10th July. We are excited for another wonderful end-of-year celebration to round off what has been an exceptionally busy and successful three terms at King’s. Some key points of information are outlined below.
I am delighted to announce that this year’s Guest of Honour will be the polar explorer, Ben Saunders. Ben has completed 12 major expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica, including the 1,795-mile return journey to the South Pole on foot that remains the only ever completion of the expedition that defeated Shackleton and claimed the lives of Captain Scott and his team. Ben will share rare photos from his expeditions and speak to us about the teamwork, resilience and environmental stewardship that he has learned during his remarkable career. It promises to be a fascinating blend of insight and inspiration which is not to be missed.
Here is the Club 1541 schedule for the day:
Please arrive in the Cathedral by 10.45am through the main door.
11am - Prize-giving in the Nave including speech from our Guest of Honour.
12.15pm - Whole School End of Year Service in Nave & Quire.
1pm - End of Formal Events.
1.15pm - An afternoon of fun on Paddock to enjoy some (hopefully) beautiful weather, drinks, food and spectator sports. Confirmed attendees thus far include The Wandering Pizza Company, Hetty’s Kitchen, The Really Awesome Coffee Van and the KSPA Pimm’s Tent. Guests may wish to bring a gazebo or deck chairs, picnic etc in order to enjoy the afternoon to its fullest.
3.30pm - End of the day and school year.
If you would like to attend, even if just for part of the day, please simply reply to this email and let us know.
We look forward to welcoming you back to King's for a day of fun to finish the school year on a high!
Yours sincerely,
David Morton
