On Saturday 20th September at 6:30pm, we will launch a year of celebrations as King’s will reach the 485th anniversary since King Henry VIII re-founded the Abbey school. We are going to spend the evening reflecting on some of the highlights of the last 485 years and also looking ahead to our exciting plans for the future. The evening will have a Performing Arts focus to celebrate the wonderful drama, dance, choral music and instrumental performances which King’s has produced in recent decades. It promises to be an inspiring, memorable evening and it would be wonderful if you could attend.
Alongside the celebrations, we will also be launching several exciting plans for the future, which will lead up to our 500th anniversary in 2041.
Our guests will have a first viewing of a fly-through for our brand-new Performing Arts Centre, which is currently being planned. This will include a 300 seater auditorium, it will be a partnership with our local community, and the stunning building will be the first new construction at King’s in more than 50 years.
We will launch our ‘King’s Gift’ fund-raising campaign and explain about the transformative impact that bursaries have had. We will hear from current and former pupils about the life-changing impact of their education at King’s.
We will assemble an impressive panel of alumni from across the decades who will talk about their journeys in the arts since leaving King’s. I can guarantee there will be some surprises here and some fascinating insights into the life of a professional rock and classical musicians, actors and much more besides.
With delicious complimentary food and drink throughout the evening and a chance to network with current and former member of our school and city community, this really will be a key moment in our school’s history and an evening not to be missed. I am sure that everyone present will feel inspired, encouraged and motivated to contribute to both the future development of the school and to new partnerships in the city.
