We are delighted to be able to share with you the exciting new plans that we have for Foundation Day this year. As you will know, Foundation Day is the new name for Speech Day, which this year falls on Thursday 13th July.
Foundation Day will have a complete makeover this year. This is to allow the school to meet four main aims:
To launch our new-look Foundation Day, we are delighted to have secured an internationally renowned Guest of Honour to address our community and to award prizes: Helen Sharman CMG OBE, the first British astronaut. Helen will speak to the pupils about her achievements, but she will mainly focus on how we can all aspire to play our individual part in a more sustainable world and a global community. We are sure that her talks will be fascinating and inspiring.
Here is the timetable for Club 1541 members:
11am: Prize- giving in the Cathedral with Helen Sharman as the Guest of Honour. Please be seated by 10.45am.
12.15pm: End of Year Service in the Cathedral.
1pm: Move to Archdeacon Meadow for an afternoon of fun, finishing at 4pm.
All members of the community are warmly encouraged to come and enjoy some (hopefully) beautiful weather, drinks, food and spectator sports at Archdeacon Meadow after the service in the Cathedral. Confirmed attendees thus far include The Wandering Pizza Company, Hetty’s Kitchen, The Really Awesome Coffee Van and the KSPA Pimm’s Tent. You may wish to bring a gazebo or deck chairs, picnic and blanket etc in order to enjoy the afternoon to its fullest. Unfortunately, there is no parking available on-site.
Click the link above to book your ticket for the day.
Fun relaxed games of cricket (with a softball) and hockey will be taking place, open to all! If you are interested in playing either sport, or both, please let us know by emailing George Smith via g.smith@thekingsschool.co.uk. Everyone is invited to take part, regardless of ages or abilities, former parents, staff or student, come along and join in!
Junior School Foundation Day
All Club 1541 members are also invited to the Junior School Foundation Day on Wednesday 12th July. The service starts at 2pm in the Cathedral and we ask that guests are seated by 1.30pm. After the service there will be refreshments served on the Paddock Lawn. If you would like to attend, please email g.smith@thekingsschool.co.uk.
