Familiar faces returned to Archdeacon Meadow for the hotly anticipated clash between past and present Hockey stars.

Despite some awful weather, the match was played at a high pace with lots of quality on display. Some rustiness from the Club 1541 side meant they squandered some early chances and as the Boys' 1st XI grew into the game they started to create some great chances of their own. Thanks to some great defence from both sides and a couple of excellent saves, the match remained 0-0 deep into the thrid quarter.

This year's returning Gap Student, Josh Barnes, was eventually the man to make the difference, flcking home from a penalty corner to make it 1-0 to the 'Old Boys' with one quarter to go.

The lead didn't last long however as King's equalised with a well worked goal. The intesity and the pressure built and built, with the 1st XI's defences finally being breached again with just two minutes to go as the scores finised 2-1 to Club 1541.

Well done to both teams for putting on such an excellent match for the hardy crowd who stayed to cheer on the teams through the horrible weather and to Club 1541 for lifting the trophy. Spirits were high after the game as both players and spectators enjoyed catching up in the pavillion before some of the former students headed off to the Pelican to continue this mini reunion!
