We are pleased to invite you to join us at King’s for this year’s Remembrance Service on Friday, 10th November 2023, starting at 3pm.
We believe that in order to maintain peace and freedom in our troubled world it is important to reflect and learn from events that have shaped our history. In doing so, we do not focus solely on the pupils who gave their lives in service of their country (‘King’s Fallen’) but equally on the many thousands of people who have risked – and continue to risk - their lives as peace-keepers throughout the world. All Senior School, together with Upper Shell, will attend this service and I do hope you can join us.
The address will be given by Rev. Richard Coombs, the Rector of St Matthew’s and the Minster in Cheltenham.
It may be that you have members of your extended family who are current or former service men or women. If so, we hope they will also join us with medals, or uniform if appropriate. Special seating will be provided in family units.
If your child is in the Cadets, they are welcome to wear their Cadet uniform and will have special seats; some of them will be able to help with the Service. Please indicate this on the form if applicable.
The service will finish at approximately 4.10pm and refreshments will be served in the Chapter House.
Please note all seats must be taken by 2.45 p.m. No tickets are issued for this Service: parents will be seated in a block from 2.30pm onwards. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer parking on the school site due to school pick up for both Junior and Senior school. Ample parking is available in the Westgate Street and Park Street car parks.
Please email g.smith@thekingsschool.co.uk if you have any questions or concerns.
