Below you will find an invitation from Mr Pennington to next month's Lent Term Concert. After many wonderful years as the Director of Music here at King's, he will be retiring at the end of the school year, and this will be his final Lent concert. Mr Pennington has meant a lot to so many groups of students as he helped them to find their love of music or help to nurture their skills. School choirs and orchestras, school trips, concerts and carol services, he has given so much to King's that it would be lovely if we could have as many Club 1541 members who remember him fondly, to return and thank him!
LENT TERM CONCERT
7.00pm, Thursday 13th February
I am writing to invite you to the Lent Term Concert which will take place on Thursday 13th February at 7:00pm in the Nave, ending at approximately 9.00pm. This invitation is open to the entire King’s Community. An exciting and uplifting programme is planned, with excellent performances from our school Concert Band, String Ensemble, Key Stage Three Choir, Chapel Choir, King’s Harmonists, Community Choir and soloists. There will be a wide range of music to suit all tastes, from Matthew Coleridge's marvellous Requiem (for choir, organ, cello and violin) to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
Everyone attending the concert is also warmly invited for drinks before the concert in the Ivor Gurney Hall at 6.15pm. Please use this link to indicate your attendance so that we can plan catering.
Please note that the Cathedral will not be accessible until Evensong has finished; this will be at approximately 6.30pm.
Parking: Paddock will be available for all rehearsals and the concert. Please use Finches Gate to access the Cathedral.
Tickets: This is a free concert with a retiring collection.
This concert is always a real highlight in the musical calendar and I look forward to seeing you there.
Yours sincerely,
Mr J. Pennington
Director of Music
